Average price
£4.75 per set (2 per set, you will probably need both at the same time)

Reliability – 9/10
I have found these very reliable when used with a suitable fabric.

Fit – 9/10
Each Boingo has a good amount of stretch to it which means even if you fasten the nappy tightly there should still be plenty of flexibility in the nappy.

Versatility – 7/10
In order to work well, the teeth of the Boingo need to be able to dig into the fabric.  They work wonderfully with terry fabrics or normal cotton prefolds which will allow the teeth to slip between the threads in the fabric.  I have found them okay with hemp jersey too, but they have not worked very well with a prefold with a decorative polycotton layer or ones with stay dry layers.  They will work with most standard flat nappies or fitted nappies but watch out for very smooth fabrics.

Safety – 10/10
These are the safest nappy fasteners for flat nappies I have come across.  There is no danger of sticking anything sharp through the nappy into your baby – if the nappy was only one layer thick, your baby may be able to feel the bumps of the Boingo’s teeth but it shouldn’t feel sharp.  Most nappies and nappy folds would have more fabric than this anyway.  I am impressed by the design of the teeth – they are parallel to the stretchy part of the Boingo (or perhaps even angled ever so slightly in towards the main part) so there should be no real danger of accidentally sticking yourself or anybody else.  I know from experience that when the teeth of fasteners aren’t completely flat, if you accidentally stand on one it can be pretty painful.  I wouldn’t stand on a Boingo for fun but it wouldn’t be terrible.  I also feel that because the stretchy part is wide, there may be less chance of it snapping.

Fluff care – 10/10
These can just be rinsed off, if needed, then leave them to dry or give them a good shake.

Value and quality – 6/10
I think the quality of these is fab but the price is a lot more than other nappy fasteners.

Ease of use – 8/10
These are easy to use – hold the nappy in place, stick the teeth of one side of the Boingo into one part of the nappy, stretch it a  bit and stick it into the other part.  Repeat for the other side of the nappy.  As I was used to T-shaped nappy fasteners, it took me a few goes to get used to doing one side at a time – at first I would do the first side too tight, but it wasn’t long before I adapted.  For a small baby or a bigger nappy, you may be able to get away with just using one Boingo to pull the two sides together, but then you’d have nothing much keeping the front of the nappy pulled up (apart from your cover, which should be enough).

Style – 9/10
These are the most stylish nappy fastener I’ve seen.  They come in size bright colours including glow in the dark, and all have a star on each end of each Boingo.  Fab!

A simple idea, well executed.

Must….buy… I love uncovered prefolds in assisting my EC training. When you do use two, would you say that these would be about as good as the snappi (sp?) at keeping a surprise poo contained in the prefold?

They’re lovely, aren’t they? Yes, I would say they’re pretty much the same as nippas/snappis at keeping poo inside the nappy.
